For our latest Amped Up vodcast, we’re pleased to introduce special guest, Amy Gandy, as she talks about the NAFTC’s hybrid electric vehicle training educator, or HEVTE. HEVTE is a fully-functional, cutaway Toyota Prius (model year 2010). The NAFTC uses HEVTE to help educate a wide variety of audiences on the components present in hybrid electric vehicles. These components are marked with QR codes, which can then be scanned to bring up additional information and/or technical details on each part of the vehicle. HEVTE also features a touchscreen that can display quizzes and/or videos for the viewers, adding an additional layer of interactivity to the whole experience.
Amy is a Project Manager at the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium who heads up the Advanced Electric Drive Vehicle Education (AEDVE) Program. The AEDVE Program provides information, educational opportunities, and outreach activities for multiple audiences to educate America on next generation vehicles.
